The Worship Servant School of Ministry
A Branch of DeepWater Ministries
Deepwater Ministries exists to serve by mentoring worship ministries by providing an example of worship, and by meeting the discipleship need to develop a personal relationship with God. The Worship Servant School of Ministry is dedicated to teaching intimate God centered worship, and building up a generation of worship leaders dedicated to bringing the power of worship to the people of God, while glorifying His Holy Name.
Peter and Jeanine Garcia, the leaders of WSSM, have been leading worship in Calvary Chapels since 1987. In 2006, they were called from Southern California to Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina to help in a church plant and minister to the New Orleans Evacuees in the FEMA Parks. Four years later, God again called them to another new ministry of living on the road to be “Musicianaries” to small churches, primarily in the South. As they visited many Calvary Chapels over the next year, their eyes were opened to a huge need: the lack of worship leaders answering His call. Since being called to be the Worship Leaders at Calvary Chapel McDonough, Georgia in 2011, 4 other churches have been provided with worship leaders. But there are still many who need help. For example:
10 churches use mp3’s or other music playing devices for worship
9 churches have the Pastors lead worship
6 churches need Worship Pastors and other worship assistance
And these are only the ones we know about!
“There is a tremendous need for worship leaders, especially in the smaller fellowships. We exist to be a part of that solution. We are looking for those individuals that have the desire to heed God’s call, and are willing to be sent out to meet the need as a worship leader. It’s difficult to find people who will go to Kentucky.” said Ms. Jeanine, “The South is a huge mission field, and many do not realize it.”
“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” Romans 12:1
Located in McDonough, Georgia, students will learn what it really means to have the heart of a servant through the ministry of worship. Beyond the musical skills and discipleship, each student will study practical skills that they can take to their mission field. Young men will study construction and handyman skills under Peter, while the young women will learn basic home-making capabilities, refurnishing furniture and vegetable gardening among other useful life skills.
