Upon our arrival in Georgia Jill and I had trouble finding a church close by. While at work I was making friends, but they weren't Christians. One day while at work I noticed a couple of guys reading the Bible, I went over and talked to them and when I returned to this group of friends they asked if I had been converted by those guy's. My mind raced, would I deny my Lord for my new friends? I answered "They can't convert me because I'm already a Christian". They responded with surprise "You are!" I was so happy that I confessed my Lord but so ashamed they didn't recognize me as a Christian.
We began attending CC Stone Mountain under Pastor Sandy Adams. After soaking up Sandy's teaching for several years we found it difficult to get deeply involved because of the long drive. After a long and difficult search we landed at Spivey Community Church here in Stockbridge.
While at Spivey, the Lord really began to work in my life. I volunteered to teach the children 3rd-5th grade. There were 7 kids on my first day (including my two boys, Parker and Trevor) and I was terrified. I began leading our Care Group (small group, home study). Later I began serving as an Elder. Then the Lord put it on my heart to become a student of CC Bible College (online).
At CCMD Pastor Manny continued discipling me as well as many others, giving me opportunities to serve and grow in Christ. I had envisioned that I would finish my school and then start a Bible Study somewhere and see what the Lord would do. I did not anticipate that the Lord would call me to take such a big step as becoming Pastor of an up and running church, but looking back every step has been a big step for me. God has worked slow and steady in my life. However, He also works in big and dramatic ways in others. What's your story? Let me encourage you to write it down, it's a great way to see what God has done in your own life over time. Send it to me if you feel inclined, I would love to hear how our Lord has worked in your life. Thanks, Pastor Rob
